Know God Exists

I was listening to the radio this past week and I heard something profound. A preacher or pastor or someone was speaking on one of the Christian stations I found on the dial. In his words, “Man is the only creature made by God that questions His very existence and the Deity of His Son, Jesus.” Think about that for a moment. I know I did. The animals and the birds know who God is (Psalm 98:7-9, 104:21; Isaiah 43:20). The wind and the waves know Jesus and listen to Him (Matthew 8:23–27; Mark 4:36–41). The sky and the heavens know God and are always declaring His glory and greatness (Psalm 19:1-6, 96:11-13). But people—men and women—made in the image of God, question Him, doubt Him, challenge Him, disobey Him and executed His only Son (Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; John 19).

But even more, when Jesus did walk on this earth He performed miracles, signs and wonders (Acts 2:22). He healed diseases (Matthew 19:2; Mark 3:10; Luke 7:21). He turned water to wine (John 2:1-11).He raised the dead to life (Luke 7:11-15, 8:49-55; John 11:1-44). He did all these things to convince us. He didn’t do these things to convince angels. Angels knew Him—they knew who He was. They proclaimed His coming (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:5-20, 1:26-38, 2:8-15) and they ministered to Him (Matthew 4:11; Mark 1:13; Luke 22:43). Demons knew who He was too. You couldn’t find a demon or evil spirit that did not know who Jesus was; and you still can’t find one today! Every demon, every evil spirit recognized Jesus (Matthew 8:29; Mark 1:24, 1:34, 3:11; Luke 4:41, 8:28; Acts 19:15). They acknowledged who he was—and they knew that He was the Son of God—and not just any God—He was the Son of the Living and Most High God. The rulers, the authorities, the world powers of darkness, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens do not question God’s existence, nor do they question Jesus’ authority (Ephesians 6:12).

It’s unfortunate that everything created by God recognizes Him and His Son except the people He came to save. Do you know Him—I mean really, truly know He exists, know He loves you and know His Son came to save you?
